Australia out of control

I mentioned in an earlier post about Australia's net censorship program.  Well, the extent of their censorship is more frightening than expected.  They denied the blacklist was real when it was leaked because it contained things far outside the scope of child porn including Christian and other religious sites, adult pornography sites, sites describing the blacklist itself, Wikipedia entries, etc.

It is amazing that they are abusing this system so brazenly, but it isn't surprising.  I hope to God this never happens in the USA.  Censoring the Internet is a fiscally wasteful practice in futility and mind control IMHO, and it violates the fundamental purpose of the Internet which is the free global exchange of information.  As much as I rail against nutty Christian fundamentalists, their rights on-line should NOT be abridged.  Nor should any other religion, viewpoint, or information be censored from Internet viewing. 

This has come to my attention because the famously offensive site Encyclopedia Dramatica is being pursued by the Australian government for human rights violations against aborigines because of Australian laws about hate speech and 10 complaints filed by aborigines against ED.  If the US even thinks about extraditing this guy or cooperating with the totalitarian Australian regime, I will be immensely disappointed and frightened.  Australia is becoming a totalitarian regime overnight, and it won't be long until the Australian SS come and snatch Internet users in the dead of night because they wanted to learn about a dangerous religion or a banned topic like euthanasia.  Australia is fucked.  We'll wait and see what France does with their program.
